GENERAL SUMMARY:

This opportunity will require an individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact with staff, contractors, regulatory agencies, research fellows, and senior management.

  • Planning and implementation, staff training, monitoring of compliance to safety and environmental regulations, and maintaining and enhancing the weed control program.
  • Ensure all new bog opening opportunities are within the existing guidelines of the respective Municipality, Provincial and Federal guidelines. Meet with landowners, be they public, private, or a combination thereof.
  • Develop closure plans monitor the overall effectiveness of the closure plan and show closure plans are on course.

Safety and Environmental Stewardship are paramount to our operations. This position will require knowledge of a broad spectrum of issues and the ability to research new ways of ensuring the goals of the company are met.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in all bog development and reclamation activities according to appropriate schedule
  • Coordinate soil and water sampling as per compliance requirements
  • Work with the Natural Resource Manager to ensure the required work is completed and submitted to regulatory agencies in a timely fashion
  • Collect and compile data for reporting – e.g., returns and yields and for tracking (every two months) and annually March 31st
  • Work with the Natural Resource Manager to research and submit all bog SML’s and ensure compliance with all provisions
  • Support regional Natural Resource Manager s and Bog Managers with harvesting operations
  • Develop relationships with Provincial government administrators to ensure long term successful partnership with stakeholders.
  • Liason for CSPMA, PERG and University research
  • Development & Reclamation Planning – including planning and monitoring in the field, coordinating air monitoring, water quality sampling
  • Coordinate and oversee special projects including Coring (Peat Depths) and vegetation surveys (Vera Flora)
  • Liaise with private land owners, coordinate lease renewals and ensure lease payment obligations are met
  • Ensure best practice standardized procedures are utilized at all bog operations.
  • Understand region’s natural resource demands.
  • Develop long range bog development plans
  • Strive for quality and productivity
  • Work with all site employees to plan and reach new bog development and reclamation goals
  • Establish a clean, safe, and environmentally secure site as determined by SunGro HS&E policies.
  • Must follow all production and safety guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
  • Ability to use geospatial databases
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial application and reporting requirements; stay up to date on regulatory changes
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Decision-making abilities.
  • Able to work with other employees in a professional and supportive manner

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences, Conservation or equivalent.
  • Proven project management skills
  • Min. 5 years of relevant experience
  • Travel requirement: 20% within Alberta/Manitoba (Preferably Winnipeg/Edmonton)

Maintenance Manager

We currently have an opening in Elma, MB for a Maintenance Manager. This person will be responsible for the maintenance of all process equipment throughout the plant. Supervision and support teams to develop the continuous improvement and safety performance programs.

Regulatory & Operation Support Admin

GENERAL SUMMARY

This position has two parts:

a) Administrative Support to the Regulatory team (approximately 50%)

b) Administrative support to the Operations Services team (50%) ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Administrative Assistance to Regulatory Team

  • Manage OMRI, CFIA, WSDA, CDFA, OIM organic products registration and permit requirements.
  • Manage print and apply label program
  • Create and maintain label management system database including product registration, “Stop Sale” resolution support, AAPFCO requirements, etc.
  • Support/assist in label (artwork file) management
  • Manage data integration for Navision regulatory updates
  • Develop/support tonnage and regulatory reporting automation and documentation (audit compliance)
  • Support regulatory manager in metric creation as well as a regulatory dashboard implementation and follow up
  • Document team processes and develop process training materials
  • Work with regulatory team as needed to prepare and submit all documents to states, federal and provincial bodies for the a) review, b) registration, c) license/permit, d) renewal and e) tonnage requirements.
  • Coordinate testing for regulatory compliance e.g. metals, Prop65.
  • Create, file and provide SDS documentation as required.
  • Update and maintain team SharePoint site to include labels, SDSs, graphics files etc.
  • Provide needed information for SG’s Commercial website as determined by marketing
  • Collaborate cross functionally to ensure regulatory team goals are met
  • Provide administrative support to team as determined by manager, which may include general office duties.
  • Work with IT to develop an automatic UPC code generation system
  • Manage update and develop calls for cross-functional team meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Operations Services Administrative Support

  • Regulatory experience highly desired
