Sunshine® Black Bear™ Indoor & Outdoor Potting Mix – a New Climate Conscious Growing Mix™ (Patent Pending)

Black Bear™ is Pure Carbon that is Captured & Stored in this potting mix preventing the carbon release into our atmosphere. It’s important to note that the effectiveness of biochar in potting mixes can vary depending on the source. Our Black Bear™ is made from safe, clean wood sources such as sawmill and lumber residuals that would otherwise be burned or sent to landfills polluting our atmosphere.  Our Black Bear™ is produced through pyrolysis. This process exposes the wood to high temperatures in a low-oxygen environment driving off volatiles and creating pure carbon. The process produces carbon that is highly stable, and excellent for long-term carbon removal.

Natural and Organic

What does ‘Natural & Organic’ mean? The FDA defines ‘natural’ as a product containing nothing artificial or synthetic. Our products adhere to this definition and are further defined as being harvested or obtained from nature and/or natural sources. The term organic has two conventional meanings. First, it applies to organic products obtained from living organisms, but in a more formal sense, it refers to products bearing the OMRI Listed® seal. These products are formally reviewed and approved for organic growing by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) of Eugene, Oregon. OMRI Listed® products are produced without conventional pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, or bioengineering.
